DEBATE: is Broking Dead?
*

Can broking maintain its place in the value chain?

6pm | April 20th 2010 | One America Square | London

OVERVIEW

This debate is about whether traditional broking can survive and what brokers will have to change in order to maintain a place in the value chain.

Customers, insurers and forward thinking brokers are all increasingly questioning the role of the broker in each business line. The threat of disintermediation is spreading, and while there is finally upward pressure on rates, there is more and more downward pressure on commissions.

Existing tensions between brokers and insurers have been exasperated by the impact of new business models and battles over rates, distribution and profitability: insurers need to be sure brokers can remain cost effective distribution partners.
Brokers need to define and demonstrate their place in the value chain.

Join the debate to discuss:

  • Which broking business models can survive?

  • What will happen to MGAs, consolidators, networks and direct distribution?

  • Technology: the saviour for brokers or the final nail in their coffin?

  • Profitability and the continued price squeeze
The question to be debated will be “Is commission-based broking dead?”

The speakers will give their views in brief presentations before opening up the debate to the audience through a lively Q&A. No press. The Chatham House Rule applies.

Following the debate drinks and canapés will be served, allowing you time to continue the discussions and network with your peers. Reserve your seat today!
