Lloyd's & London Market Stream: executive summary
A very interesting yet opposing presentation style and content from Phil Hill and David Mead. Both contained general synergies both around the belief in technology as an enabler and also the need to manage change across respective organisations.
The presentations focused on successful e-Business platforms across the London markets, but also placed tremendous emphasis on external perception (in particular, pertaining to the use of end point technologies). They discussed the opportunity within social media from a sales perspective and highlighted the potential security considerations there.
The presentations also highlighted the essential need for a logical process to re-examine core business process as the foundation upon which to develop enabling technologies, and the fundamental requirements of joining together the legacy operational silo’s, nurturing innovation within organisations, appointing key stakeholders and ensuring regular progress is communicated across the business. Organisations need to fund more analytical initiatives, supported by 360 degree customer view delivered through CRM etc.
The audience all seemed keen to listen to ideas and also share their own sector challenges with each other during the round table sessions. Many seemed to feel their sector has specific niche challenges the wider insurer markets don’t have, for example the regulatory presence.
The chair, Ian Taylor from Cirquent impressed upon the audience that the early adopters and true innovators were and are getting ahead (and staying ahead) through the use of technology to enable effective strategic change to support business model innovation and high performance growth for the future.
