The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) provides professional technical support to the Lloyd’s underwriting and claims community and represents their interests. All managing agents at Lloyd’s are LMA members, together managing gross premium income of around £23 billion in 2011. Through the LMA the interests of Lloyd’s underwriters, managing agents and members’ agents are represented wherever decisions need to be made that affect the market.
The purpose of the LMA is to identify and resolve issues which are of particular interest to the underwriting and claims community and, working in partnership with the Corporation of Lloyd’s and other partner associations, to influence the course of future market initiatives.
The LMA’s agenda is driven by and on behalf of the members – the Lloyd’s underwriting and claims community – many of whose staff freely give up their time to participate on boards, committees, business panels and other groups who are essential to the strength of the association.
