In a profile written by Phil Middleton, we share a spotlight on Tony Fish, a leading expert on decision-making in uncertain environments, corporate governance and sustainability who is joining us as a speaker at the Data Jam on 25th November.
Profile by Phil Middleton, Director at The Insurance Network
Tony Fish is a self-proclaimed neuro-minority (diverse) ‘data maverick’ and a leading expert on decision-making in uncertain environments, corporate governance and sustainability.
He focuses on data, innovation, entrepreneurship, digital trends and early-stage growth, and has founded, co-founded, sold and listed many businesses and written and published 6 books, the most recent of which, Decision Making In Uncertain Times, he has very generously made available to followers of The Insurance Network, completely free of charge, by clicking the link below.
Tony gave the afternoon keynote at the inaugural Data Jam last November, and it was one of the best received presentations in our 20-year history of running events for the UK insurance sector.
Here is a comment we had by way of feedback:
“Listening to Tony Fish was like having someone take the top of your head off and giving your brain a good stir”
Well, we are delighted to welcome Tony back to the Data Jam stage on November 25th. This year he will be joining Andrea Read at Convex Insurance and Claudia De Jeu Boronat at WTW to discuss Agentic AI on the main stage at 3.30.
To give you a clue on what he might cover here this is a quote from some notes he sent Jeremy Burgess:
“Insurance is building infrastructure for agentic AI that assumes friction reduction equals value creation, whilst insurance exists precisely because some decisions require friction…the question isn't whether agentic AI will transform insurance. Its whether insurers will use it to maintain judgment in the system, or automate judgment away and hope nobody notices until the first major disaster”
So not your standard fare about the game-changing potential of this transformative technology…
Here are some thoughts he shared recently that may make you think differently about that word “agent”: The Horcrux Economy: How AI Agents Will Fragment Human Agency
And this is what he sees as the real, long term implications and impact of AI: Why AI Isn’t a Bubble …. It’s Cognitive Infrastructure
And as promised, here is a link to the complete and unabridged Decision Making In Uncertain Times. Click the link to download the entire book (in both PDF and Kindle friendly format), plus we will also give you a promotional code for the Data Jam (practitioners only).
None of this is light reading. You may want to give yourself time and space and a quiet environment to immerse yourself in Tony’s thinking: it really is (quite literally) extra-ordinary.
